you can start refining by adding embellishments to the armour, a symbol possibly for the shield etc. what about a background? Even a gradient would be better than a solid grey bg
Ok maybe you wanna "cheat" your background in? Try to find an image of an army or whatever relatiev to the character, do colour balancing and adjustments then blur it out slightly so it doesn't look fake? Just my 2 cents
Looks nice!
Get a nice black and white metal texture and overlay it on the shield with reduced opacity? Right now it a little too smooth and clean. Can paint in some cracks too, plus on the sword.
