Here's a little holiday exercise that I'll be doing with a programmer (Kennard from DET, if anyone knows him). We'll be doing a realtime 3D indoor scene with lights rays, glows and falling particle effects and all that good stuff.
Anyway this is the concept for the scene we'll be doing - I was thinking of an old, dusty gothic-ish hallway with all the swirly, flowery pattern things with like a sunset/autumn mood or something.
The focus on this exercise will be getting the texturing, lighting, particle effects and light rays working to get a nice mood going for this scene - also to find out how much of a headache it will be to build a finished realtime scene.
Added WIP!

Recently borrowed a book on game texturing - so I spent the day sort of messing around with photoshop filters and other tricks it showed me that made me go wtf.
Anyway, this is a seamless texture made completely from photoshop filters - no photographs, and under an hour.
OH MY GOD NO COPYRIGHT
Oh btw, the name of the book is - 3D Game Textures - Create Professional Looking Game Art Using Photoshop. Published by Focal Press.

Events/character(s)?
A couple of event and character things done in one canvas all at the same time. Was pretty fun lol.
Still needs some refining tho - especially the figures and faces. You can tell from some random brushy areas that I have no idea how to paint those parts I was trying to paint.
Gonna spend some time polishing them.
And lets see if you guys can come up with some card names!
Update - Check comments plz.

Sky Carnival
Been working on this for many evenings with not too much sleep. Wanted to catch up on the themes - this is the circus one.
The ferris wheel was a massive nightmare.
Please let me know if you think there is something strange/wierd/homosexual in the image that I should keep in mind for the next time I paint something like this.
Update - Thanks for the comments guys. Tweaked the image a little, mostly moved stuff slightly around. Also darkened and fogged out the middle rock with the crack; felt that it was too bright - might've been the thing that looked off.
